Culvert replacement closing rural intersection near Philo

PHILO, Ill. (WCIA) — A rural intersection near Philo will be closing over the next two days as part of an ongoing project.

Officials with the Champaign County Highway Department said the next part of the project involves replacing culverts at the intersection of County Roads 1500E and 900N, the latter nicknamed the “Philo Slab.” The north leg of 1500E will close on Wednesday while the south leg will close the following day.

Spalding Skate Park reopens after weekend closure

Both closures will last from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes during the closures and drive with caution through the intersection during the hours it is open. Even after the road opens, loose pieces of material will remain in the area for a few days.
