Cubs’ Ben Zobrist Buys New Home in Chicago’s North Center Neighborhood
The Chicago Cubs snagged second baseman Ben Zobrist in the free-agent market last winter for a cool $56 million over four years. The team sees the flexible fielder as one of the last pieces of the puzzle that will finally enable it to win a World Series after a 107-year wait, currently the longest title drought in Major League Baseball.
Apparently Zobrist is already settling into Chicago and celebrating. He and his wife bought this 4,800-square-foot home for $1.84 million. Ryan Parks was the listing agent.
The newly built home, which was listed in August for $1.9 million, features six bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. A large number of bedrooms was a requirement for the couple as was a three-car garage, a rarity in Chicago’s older neighborhoods such as North Center where this home is located. The Zobrists will be living in what’s known as the St. Ben’s area within North Center, named after a local Catholic church.
Perhaps most important for Zobrist is that the house is only about a mile and a half west of Wrigley Field. So if he does indeed help the Cubs break their World Series drought, revelers in Cubbie Blue will likely be lining the road to thank him.
