Cuba Gooding Jr.'s Father Found Dead of Apparent Drug Overdose

The father of Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. has been found dead in his car in what authorities believe was a drug overdose.

Cuba Gooding Sr. rose to fame as the lead singer of The Main Ingredient, a band best known for their hit “Everybody Plays the Fool.”

The 72-year-old was found slumped over the wheel of his parked car in the Woodland Hills section of Los Angeles Thursday. He died of an apparent drug overdose.

"Alcohol containers and drug paraphernalia" were near the body, according to the Los Angeles Times

Cuba Gooding Jr., who won an Academy Award for his role in Jerry Maguire, has not released a statement about his father’s passing. The actor is currently in Toronto filming his new movie, Life in a Year.
