CT state police release video of trooper being struck by car on I-95
State police have released video of a trooper being hit by a car on Interstate 95 in Bridgeport earlier this week.
The crash was reported Monday just after 8:30 a.m. on I-95 North near Exit 30, where a 31-year-old trooper was parked on the right shoulder behind another motorist and outside of his vehicle, according to Connecticut State Police.
Video released by state police shows the trooper was walking between his cruiser and the metal beam guardrail as the driver of a 2014 Honda Accord, a 35-year-old Bridgeport man, approached from the center lane and lost control of the vehicle. The Honda struck the guardrail before hitting the trooper and his cruiser, state police said.

In the video, the trooper can be seen climbing over the guardrail onto a grassy area while he radios in the crash.
“I was just struck by a car,” the trooper says.
“I’m down the embankment,” he says, groaning in apparent pain.
The collision sent the police cruiser into the rear of a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled over in front of the cruiser, according to state police.
The trooper and the driver of the Honda were taken to Bridgeport Hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening, state police said. The driver of the Jeep did not report any injuries.
Both the Honda and the police cruiser had to be towed.
State police said the Honda driver was found to be at fault for the crash and was charged with failure to drive in proper lane, failure to move over and failure to meet minimum insurance requirements.
