CT man on supervised release for drug conviction for overdoses sentenced for violating conditions

A Danbury man has been sentenced to prison for violating the conditions of his supervised release stemming from a federal narcotics conviction involving two fatal drug overdoses.

Paul Mignani, 58, received an 18-month sentence during a hearing Tuesday in federal court in New Haven, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.

According to federal officials, he was previously sentenced to 60 months in prison on June 20, 2017, for distributing cocaine and heroin. The prison term was ordered to be followed by three years of supervised release.

Federal officials said a judge made a finding during the 2017 proceedings that Mignani had distributed narcotics involved in the overdose deaths of two women in 2016.

Mignani was released from federal prison in June 2020.

On Sept. 12, 2022, while Mignani was on supervised release, authorities searched his Danbury residence and found about 48 grams of loose fentanyl, 79 dose bags of fentanyl, 69 grams of cocaine, various prescription pills, firearm parts and ammunition and items used to process and package narcotics.

In connection with the new offenses, Mignani has made an agreement with the Danbury State’s Attorney’s Office that includes a 15-year prison term that will be suspended after he serves six years behind bars, according to officials.

The 18-month sentence imposed on Tuesday will run consecutive to the Danbury sentence.
