CT man seriously injured after being ejected from car during crash on I-95

A man was seriously injured on Sunday when he was ejected from his vehicle after leaving Interstate 95 in West Haven and striking a number of light poles, road signs and trees, state police said.

The crash occurred on I-95 North in the area of Exit 42 shortly before 3:50 a.m., according to Connecticut State Police.

State police said 25-year-old Zakaria Faid of East Haven was driving a 2015 BMW 435i Gran Coupe heading north on I-95 at a “high rate of speed” when he ran off the right side of the road. Once off the road, Faid hit two light poles, a number of signs along the highway and numerous trees before he was ejected from the vehicle, according to state police.

State police said Faid was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for serious injuries.

The agencies that responded to the crash included the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad, West Haven Police Department, West Haven Fire Department and the state Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
