CSP looking for driver in fatal Hwy 160 hit-and-run

(COSTILLA COUNTY, Colo.) — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is seeking the community’s help finding a driver who hit a pedestrian on Highway 160 northeast of Fort Garland on Wednesday, March 27.

CSP said around 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, troopers responded to a hit-and-run on Hwy 160 at milepost 265, just over four miles northeast of Fort Garland. CSP said a 66-year-old pedestrian was outside his vehicle and in the roadway, when an eastbound car hit him, causing fatal injuries.

CSP said the car did not stop and left the scene. Neither the car nor the driver have been identified.

Now, troopers are hoping someone in the community can identify the car or driver in this hit-and-run. The car is believed to have damage to the windshield and hood.
