UPDATE: CSFD successfully rescues woman from 10-ft hole

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to an update from CSFD on Facebook, the woman who fell down a 10-foot hole on Wednesday, May 22 was rescued about an hour after the call for help was received.

CSFD said the call was made shortly before 1:30 p.m., and crews arrived on scene minutes later. CSFD said its own Heavy Rescue truck was busy, so Fort Carson Fire Heavy Rescue responded to assist. A hazmat team also responded to check the oxygen levels and air quality in the hole to ensure it was safe.

A CSFD Heavy Rescue Technician was lowered into the hole using the ladder of a fire engine, where they put a harness on the woman, and she was successfully lifted out of the hole by 2:32 p.m. She was sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

“We have to extend a massive ‘thank you’ to our partners at Fort Carson Fire and Emergency Services Heavy Rescue who responded when our Heavy Rescue unit was out of service,” said CSFD in its Facebook post. “Our Heavy Rescue Crews train together yearly which makes incidents like this run smoothly. We are proud to call them our partners!”

CSFD reported that the patient has been rescued and sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) reported on Wednesday, May 22 that they are working to rescue a woman in a 10-foot hole.

According to CSFD, at around 1:30 p.m. they are on the scene of the trench rescue in the area of 1600 Cheyenne Boulevard, near Cresta Road. Crews have made contact with the patient and are working to stabilize the hole to bring her up.

This is an ongoing situation, and FOX21 News will update as more information is available.
