How a crusade is taking place against faith, order and individual freedom: Opinion

As a proud Cuban-American, I write the following in honor of this great nation that has become my new home; furthermore, I write with the desire to show my gratitude and appreciation for the United States- the country where my children were born and my community has found a place of refuge.

Our community has found true happiness in this country and embraced the civil liberties we never had before. To this nation, we owe so much! We are blessed to live here and enjoy the freedom we lost in our motherland when the Socialist-Communist government took power 63 years ago.

I am against any extreme political ideology; they have catastrophic effects on any society, but coming from Cuba, I know very well how an extreme leftist system begins and concludes. Therefore, I feel as if it is an obligation to alert and share my worries about what is happening here.

Today leftist ideas have gained too much ground in our society, especially in the school system where the youth is being indoctrinated by concepts that undermine the pillars and values this nation was founded upon- i.e., those of faith, order and individual freedom.

  • • Rampant censorship on social media – main means of communication nowadays – where personal accounts are censored due to the owner’s expression of their personal opinions or beliefs

  • Media outlets completely siding with one political party, the Democratic Party

  • Mandates issued by the government that are an encroachment on individual freedoms (vaccine and mask mandates, etc.)

  • Campaigns and bills designed to scapegoat/weaken law enforcement (defunding the police/undermining the police’s role)

  • Chaotic and disorderly immigration

  • Stirring up jealousy towards those who create wealth by advocating for tax increases for them, even though they are the ones who create value, provide employment to many and bring about more wealth

  • Fostering laziness by handing out money to people for extended periods of time, even though the labor market is full to the brim with opportunities to get a job and get paid at rates never seen before

  • Indoctrination in the school system.

Regarding this last point, it should be noted that the extreme left – the enemy of democracy and prosperity – has managed to infiltrate the American education system where it has implemented its political agenda. Instead of educating students in alignment with values such as faith in God, family values, entrepreneurship and respect for personal freedoms, the current education system is fostering division along the lines of ethnicity, race, sexual preference, financial status, nationality, country of origin, etc.

With a deceitful and hypocritical doctrine, the current curriculums and a large part of the faculty frequently distort history and change the language and concepts at the convenience of a political ideology. They even celebrate the false benefits of the socialist system (free medicine and education, for example); much worse, they habitually magnify the defects of this country by igniting feelings of guilt in the youth.

El Kentubano- a local Hispanic publication that is written by a Cuban immigrant who fled his destroyed country due to the disastrous impacts of a socialist system- calls on the citizens of this nation to wake up and confront this deceitful ideology.

The United States is not a perfect country. It has a lot of room to improve, but it is undoubtedly the best nation in the world, the beacon of democracy, and the place where anyone- especially if they belong to a minority group- can enjoy the greatest opportunities to achieve happiness, benefits and rights. Our local Cuban American community is a perfect example of that. God bless America and its modern capitalist system!
