Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Sequel Sword Of Destiny Trailer Kicks Off

It’s been a long time coming – 15 years, in fact – but the sequel to ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ is on its way.

And here’s the first trailer.

'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny’ has been produced by Harvey Weinstein, and once again stars Michelle Yeoh, reprising her role as Yu Shu Lien.

It’s been directed by Yeun Woo-ping, the legendary martial arts choreographer who won a swathe of awards for his work on the Ang Lee-directed original, the movie which thrust the Taiwanese-born helmsman into the spotlight.

Woo-ping’s work has also been credited with launching the 'wuxia’ style of martial arts movies into the mainstream.

This new movie is based on the final book in the Crane-Iron series, 'Iron Knight, Silver Vase’, penned by Wang Du Lu ('Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ was the fourth book).

It brings back the powerful legend of the Green Destiny, the sword which was wielded by Chow Yun-fat’s Li Mu Bai in the first movie.

Also starring alongside Yeoh are Donnie Yen, Harry Shum Jr, Jason Scott Lee and Eugenia Yuan.

It’s due for release on Netflix in February, 2016.
