Crookston, Minn., man hospitalized following rollover crash near Thompson, N.D.

Apr. 7—A 22-year-old Crookston man is in the hospital after a rollover accident near Thompson, N.D., early Wednesday morning, April 7.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, John Anchondo was traveling from Grand Forks to Crookston in a 2014 Chrysler 300C just before 3:20 a.m. at an unknown rate of speed. He was traveling east on Sixth Avenue Northeast, seven miles outside Thompson, when he left the roadway, swerved back onto the road, and again went off the road to the right, according to a release.

As he was correcting, he lost control of his vehicle, the vehicle dug in and began rolling end over end before coming to a rest in the south ditch.

Anchondo was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with severe injuries, and is expected to be charged for the crash, according to Highway Patrol.

According to the release, road conditions were reportedly good, weather conditions were clear and dark, and Anchondo was not wearing any restraints.

Altru Ambulance Services, Thompson Fire and Rescue, and the Grand Forks Sheriff's Office assisted North Dakota Highway Patrol.
