1 dead in 3-vehicle Marion County crash, coroner says

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — One person was killed Wednesday morning after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 76, Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson said.

It happened at about 8:30 a.m. near Bubba Road, and people had to be pulled from the crash, Marion Fire Rescue said.

A 2002 International pickup truck, a 2023 Peterbilt tractor-trailer and a 2007 Ford pickup truck were involved in the crash, South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The International pickup truck and Peterbilt tractor-trailer were traveling east on Highway 76, and the Ford pickup was traveling west on Highway 76, the SCHP said. The Ford pickup went off the right side of the road, crossed the median, and collided with the International pickup. The Peterbilt trailer also collided with the International pickup.

Marion Heavy Rescue 10 responded along with Marion County EMS and Marion Rural Fire Department.

The identity of the person killed in the crash has not been released. The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
