The Harrison Market is closed. Next tenant could be announced soon

The Harrison Market, in Harrison Shopping Square, has closed to the public and will be officially closed as of May 15, according to a spokesperson for Regency Centers, which operates the shopping center in Harrison.

Regency Centers hopes to be able to share an announcement of what's next for the space — at 335 Halstead Ave. — in the near future, the spokesperson said.

It wasn't known why The Harrison Market was closing in that plaza or whether it might reopen elsewhere. The market's owner could not be reached for comment.

The more than 12,000-square foot space is the only one listed as “available soon” in the Harrison Shopping Square on the website of Regency Centers. As of May 9, the Harrison Market signage was still present on the building's storefront. Crews were seen working on the inside of the store, which was gutted and empty.

The Harrison Market’s last Facebook posting April 9 offered 10% off on purchases over $75. People commenting on the post wondered what was happening with the market. Comments have ranged from asking if the market was closing, to “shelves are pretty empty,” to, more recently, “this business is closed for good.”
