Crews investigating ‘suspicious’ fire at market south of downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Fire crews are working to determine what sparked a fire at a market just south of downtown Nashville early Wednesday morning.

The Nashville Fire Department said crews were sent to the 140 block of Lafayette Street just after 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 to respond to reports of a commercial fire at Marley’s Market.

When units arrived at the scene, they said found a pickup truck that was fully engulfed in flames and another fire inside the store.

According to the department, fire personnel also found a broken window in front of the market and are looking to determine whether someone threw something through the glass.

Crews are also investigating if the pickup truck was intentionally set on fire, according to firefighters at the scene.

Fire officials told a News 2 crew that the fire is believed to be “suspicious in nature” at this time.
