That creepy show “Unsolved Mysteries” you loved as a kid is finally coming back
Hey guys — do you enjoy not sleeping at night, knowing that the world is full of murderers, kidnappers, and maybe even aliens? Then the news that Unsolved Mysteries is now streaming on Amazon Prime, with more episodes expected to drop in the coming months, should fill you with holiday cheer.
The crime documentary series — think Making a Murderer but in the ’90s, and with only one case per week — was originally hosted by Robert Stack from 1987-1997, when it aired on NBC. Upon its cancelation, CBS picked up the series and ran it from ’97-’99, then Spike TV ran a new version, hosting by Dennis Farina, from 2008-2010.
It’s the latter episodes that are currently available on Prime, but Danny Fisher, the CEO of FilmRise — aka, the company that purchased worldwide digital distribution rights for the Mysteries — claims that more platforms should be streaming episodes shortly, “both the Dennis Farina versions as well as the Robert Stack versions.”
That’s nearly 600 freaking episodes of unsolved murder and mayhem coming straight to your TV (or laptop; nothing better than playing detective and snuggling in bed amiright), just in time for binging during the cold, dark winter months. So if you’ll excuse us, we have some 30-year-old mysteries to solve from the safety and comfort of our living room sofas.
