Back in May, a piece of '90s nostalgia became available to the highest bidder when the house from Full House went up for sale. And it turns out that none other than Jeff Franklin, the creator of Full House, forked over $4 million for the place he made famous.

Franklin bought the property at 1709 Broderick Street in San Francisco's Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood. And he did it all for nostalgia's sake. "The house came on the market and really, I just thought, I have to buy this house," Franklin told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm so sentimental about the house. It's great to have the house in our Full House family and be able to preserve it for the fans. […] Seriously, I love owning this house."

And because Franklin is just as much of a Full House fan as the rest of us, he's giving it a sitcom-friendly makeover. He's going to redecorate the place to make it look like the Tanner family actually lives there, and he started by giving the place its iconic red door again. That was first priority, because hundreds of fans still stop by the house every day to take photos. But the red door will temporarily go away while he does construction work on the property.

That's not the only thing he's doing for fans. Franklin says he hopes to shoot a third season of spin-off Fuller House inside the actual Tanner home, which he has never been allowed to do until now. Plus, since this coming September is the show's 30th anniversary, Franklin wants to host a "big slumber party" where the cast "lives" at the house for a day, and fans can drive by and see them inside. And then after all that, he says he wants to open the house to the public. "It's a shame to let it sit empty," he says. "I will be renting it out but I'm not sure yet what, where, when or how. At some point soon I will figure that out."
