Eastbound lanes of Highway 74 in Laurinburg remain closed after fiery crash

LAURINBURG, N.C. (WBTW) — The eastbound lanes of Highway 74 in Laurinburg remained closed Friday morning after a crash and large fire under an overpass, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.

Authorities have not said whether anyone was hurt in Thursday morning crash, which involved two tractor-trailers and a boat and sent thick, black smoke billowing into the air. An NCDOT spokesperson told News13 late Thursday afternoon that crews were at the scene assessing the damage to determine when the road could be safely reopened.
