UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies after crashing into car on Commercial Street in south Salem

A Salem motorcyclist is dead after crashing into a car on Commercial Street in south Salem early Wednesday morning.

Salem Police said 32-year-old Zachary Hendrickson was given aid by a passerby and a police officer but was pronounced dead by paramedics.

According to police, a driver was going south on Commercial Street and turned east into a business in the 4300 block.

Police say that the motorcycle hit the car.

The driver of the car stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, but police did not say if the driver would be cited.

Roads in the area were closed for three and a half hours during the investigation.

Salem Police said the crash was the 10th traffic fatality in the city this year.
