Crash on I-71 briefly shuts down southbound lanes in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A crash Friday morning on Interstate 71 through Columbus completely shut down the southbound lanes temporarily for a stretch of the highway.

Photos taken by Ohio Department of Transportation cameras showed multiple emergency responders, including an ambulance and two fire engines, stopped in the middle of the highway at the East Weber Road exit. Traffic was backed up to Morse Road.

The cameras showed emergency responders later cleared the blockage, and traffic began flowing again in I-71’s southbound lanes around 11:50 a.m.
