Craig confirmed as NH Labor Commissioner
Craig confirmed as head of New Hampshire Labor Department
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- The Executive Council on Wednesday confirmed James Craig to be New Hampshire's next Labor Department commissioner.
Craig, who was nominated by Gov. Maggie Hassan, is a partner at the law firm of Craig, Deachman & Amann. He has practiced law in New Hampshire for 30 years with a variety of experience in issues critical to the state's workforce and business community.
Craig, a Democrat, served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for five terms, including as minority leader from 2004-2006.
"Jim Craig's long record of public service, as well as his deep understanding of the legal and policy issues that affect both our workforce and business community, will make him an excellent commissioner of labor," Hassan said in a statement. "I applaud the Executive Council for their unanimous confirmation, and I look forward to working with Jim to ensure that the rights of New Hampshire's workers are fully protected and that our businesses have the level playing field they need to grow and thrive."
