CPD searching for witnesses of April 20th shooting on I-185

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – The Columbus Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault on Warm Springs Road that left a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and is asking for witnesses to come forward to help with solving the case.

CPD says on April 20, patrol officers responded to Warms Springs Road near E. Lindsey Drive to a report about a shooting. After arriving on the scene, officers found a black Nissan Altima stopped in the roadway with a female victim inside with gunshot wounds. CPD did not identify the victim but says she was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional for medical treatment.

Police said after additional investigation, witnesses told law enforcement that “it sounded like the shooting started on I-185 northbound near the Manchester Expressway exit.”

CPD urges anyone “who may have witnessed this shooting” on the interstate, to contact Cpl. Charles Alexander at 706-225-4263. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through City Protect.
