CPD: Joint agency shakedown at prison results in recovery of meth, tobacco and other contraband

MUSCOGEE COUNTY, Ga. (WRBL) – The Columbus Police Department said a joint agency shakedown at the Muscogee County Prison resulted in the successful recovery of drugs and other illegal contraband.

Through working alongside the Muscogee County Prison staff and Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units, CPD’s pre-academy class coordinated a search of the prison’s housing units.

Together, all agencies focused on removing unauthorized items to stop criminal activities inside and outside the prison.

During the search, agencies found and confiscated methamphetamine, tobacco, tattoo guns, razors and a cigarette lighter.

CPD thanks Warden H. Walker III, the MCP CERT team, facility staff, pre-academy officers, and cadets for their efforts and said the operation’s success “underscores” their continued commitment to keeping the community safe.
