Courtney Campbell Causeway pedestrian trail closes temporarily

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The popular pedestrian and bike trail along the Courtney Campbell Causeway closed Monday for repairs.

Florida Department of Transportation crews will work on repairing storm damage while the trail is shut down, just in time for hurricane season.

Overnight Clearwater shootings believed to be related, police say

“It’s really the approach areas. We noticed there was a little bit of wash-out so our engineers are going to go in there and strengthen that up before our next hurricane season starts,” Kris Carson with FDOT said.

The repairs will cost over 1.5 million to complete. It is not expected to affect traffic on the bridge.

FDOT expects to reopen the pedestrian trail in about two weeks, as long as inclement weather doesn’t derail their plans.
