Courteney Cox Was Almost Rachel On 'Friends'
I'm not sure if you're the type of person to dig yourself into an Internet rabbit hole looking up stories confirming conspiracies about parallel universes, but you *might* find yourself doing just that after you hear this little tidbit: Courteney Cox was almost Rachel, not Monica - your favorite annoyingly clean person - on Friends. Exactly. Now try to imagine watching Courteney Cox as as Rachel for 10 seasons. Your whole TV life as you know it would be different! Everything you know and believe would be WRONG!
OK, well the operative word there is "almost" because Courteney Cox didn't end up playing Rachel. She just told the Off Camera With Sam Jones podcast that she read for Rachel before she read for Monica, which is fairly common in the ~acting~ world. It's not totally weird for the actor...it's just weird when you're imagining the character you've grown to know be played by somebody else. And who would have played Monica?!
She did, however, say felt more of a ~connection~ to Monica. "For some reason, I thought I related more to Monica," she said, "which, maybe, it's because I do." Is it the freakish cleanliness? "I'm not as clean as Monica, but I am neat," she said.
Regardless, though, of who played who, the two actresses are still friends IRL - Cox mentioned to Jones that she was even seeing Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow later that evening for girls' night. So life as you always knew hasn't totally shifted.
