Police said surveillance footage showed Catledge and his father pulling into the parking lot, with Catledge’s father entering the store and Catledge staying in the car. Then, Clark also walked into the store and asked Catledge’s father about the identity of the person inside the car, court documents say.

Clark then left the store and approached the driver’s side door of the car, where Catledge remained, according to the affidavit. Clark asked Catledge why he pulled a gun last week, the affidavit continues.

In an interview with police, Catledge said Clark had “bear hug(ged) him” and asked about his gun, according to court documents. Catledge told police he created separation, pulled out his gun and fired a shot, the documents say.

According to the affidavit, Catledge called 911 after the shooting, saying, “I shot once and I ran,” and “I panicked.” Catledge told dispatchers he had been attacked and his father had been hit by a brick, the affidavit says. He was taken into custody.
