Couple escape injury after 2 small planes collide

RICHMOND, Calif. (AP) — Officials say a pilot is missing but a husband and wife have escaped injury after their small plane collided with another aircraft over the northern part of the San Francisco Bay.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said a Hawker Sea Fury TMK 20 was able to land safely Sunday afternoon at a small airport in Northern California's Amador County.

A county sheriff's official said the couple aboard weren't injured.

Searchers were combing the waters for the pilot of a Cessna 210 that crashed into the water off the city of Richmond.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Loumania Stewart says debris was spotted in San Pablo Bay following the collision near the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.
