UPDATE: (10:15am PST) Chesney’s PR rep says, “This story is false. Our client Kenny Chesney has not purchased a home in Malibu.” We checked back with Yolanda and she told us she “has it on unimpeachable authority” that Chesney bought this home. If you know anything about “Santa Maria Inc”—the entity that purchased the home in March, drop us a line. Original story below…

Country king Kenny Chesney quietly purchased a modest beach house in Malibu, CA, in March for $5.2 million, according to Yolanda’s Little Black Book.

The two-bedroom, three-bath home is located in Malibu Cove Colony, an enclave of about 50 oceanfront homes developed in the 1950s. Most of the homes in the enclave have since been rehabbed or razed and rebuilt.

Chesney’s Malibu getaway is less than 2,000 square feet. It was built in 1957 and remodeled not too long ago. The open floor plan includes a combined kitchen, dining, and family area. Bamboo floors stretch throughout the home.

The home’s biggest wow factor–other than eye-popping Pacific views—is a tree-shaded courtyard perfect for outdoor dining and entertaining.

Another wow factor? The price per square foot of this slice of Malibu magnificence is a whopping $2,680. The home hit the market for $5.5 million in February, and was snapped up by the country star for $300,000 less a month later.

Chesney, 48, has recorded 20 albums. He’s well-known for his laid-back country stylings, with a relaxed beach-y, party vibe. This is all very appropriate given his new digs on one of the most expensive stretches of sand in the country.
