Country Star Cam Reveals How She Co-Wrote One of Miley Cyrus’ Hit Songs

Country star Cam is revealing how she managed to “sneak” onto Miley Cyrus‘ 2013 album, Bangerz.

The newly married 32-year-old lent her songwriting skills to Cyrus’ hit track, “Maybe You’re Right,” and now the singer is opening up about the unconventional way things went down.

It all started with a surprise with her collaborator, super-producer Mike WiLL Made-It. “He goes, ‘I’m gonna go to the club for awhile,'” Cam recalls. “And I was like, ‘Is this how we write in — people just disappear?’ And he was going to the club to get Miley to bring her back. And she loved it. So we finished the song and she recorded it.”

For anyone who aspires to find their name on the credit of a smash record, take note: “It was right before the album came out, and I think that’s how you sneak onto albums. At the very end, you’re like the shiny new song. So it worked out.”

She may have co-written songs for Cyrus, but Cam has some “Bangerz” of her own.

Her 2015 hit “Burning House” served as the singer’s breakout track, and she’s now on her first-ever headline tour.

“It’s so cool,” Cam previously told PEOPLE. “At first you have to stop being like the circus barker: ‘It’s me Cam, pay attention!’ And then as soon as ‘Burning House’ hit, people starting singing along and they know the words and you’re like, ‘My name’s Cam!’ And they’re like, ‘I know!’”
