COS sets April traffic record, sets sights on summer travel

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Airport (COS) set a new record for April traffic this past month. COS announced on Wednesday, May 22 that there was a travel increase ahead of the summer months.

In April, the airport saw a total of 194,004 passengers travel through the terminal, which represents a 15.4% increase from last April. Enplanements were up by 15.6% year-over-year, with 97,293 travelers boarding a plane out of COS in April.

“We have consistently seen an increase in traffic at COS, and as we approach the summer months, we anticipate that this trend will continue,” said Director of Aviation Greg Phillips. “This reflects the strong support of our community for our airport.”

With a 10.2% year-over-year increase of seats available in April, totaling 118,774 seats for the month, COS saw a nice increase in enplanements and a 3.8 percent increase in load factors, averaging 81.9 percent for the month across all nonstop options.

This summer, seats are 6% higher from June through August than in the same period last year. New additions will also be available starting in May, with an array of new air service including nonstop flights to Burbank, Minneapolis and Baltimore.
