Coronation Street's Daniel Osbourne will be put under further suspicion next week, as the investigation into Lauren Bolton's disappearance takes another turn.

With Roy Cropper having been officially accused of murdering the missing teen, next week's scenes see him being remanded in custody.

In scenes that will air on Wednesday, April 17 and Friday, April 19, Lauren's love interest Bobby Crawford chats to Bernie Winter in the café and is given food for thought while mulling over Roy's predicament.

When he suddenly receives a call summoning him to the police station for further questioning, Bobby pales. Meanwhile, in prison, Roy refuses his breakfast and declines to leave his cell as his worries intensify.

Over at the station, DS Swain gives shaken Bobby a grilling and reminds him that perverting the course of justice is a serious offence and could carry a custodial sentence.

When Bobby returns home, he admits to his aunt Carla Barlow that, while under pressure, he made out to DS Swain that the intruder at Lauren's flat was wearing a balaclava and a dark coat with a fur-trimmed hood.

He then reveals that he has changed his statement, as he suddenly remembered seeing a man running out of Lauren's flat. Nina Lucas and Cassie and Evelyn Plummer listen with interest to Bobby's story.

Cassie then tells Evelyn and Nina that, not long after Lauren disappeared, she saw a coat in the charity shop fitting Bobby's description of what the intruder was wearing. Evelyn and Cassie head to the charity shop to check it out, and when they return, they tell Nina that the coat has gone, but there were some other clothes that came in with it - including a jumper with a name tag.

Later on, DS Swain calls at the builder's yard flat and informs Daniel that she'd like him to come to the station with her, as there has been a new development in Lauren's case. Has Bobby inadvertently implicated Daniel?

Daniel's girlfriend Bethany Platt does her best to persuade Daniel to put the situation with Lauren to the back of his mind and come out for a walk.

When they run into Max Turner outside the café, Daniel has a go at him for reporting him to the police and wasting their time. However, when Daniel and Bethany walk away, Max tells Abi Webster that he has no idea what Daniel is talking about. When Abi reveals who really reported Daniel to the police, Max is shocked.

Max later calls at the factory and rants at Bobby for failing to tell him about Daniel's involvement in Lauren's disappearance. When Bethany reads an article online which suggests that Lauren was working as an escort before she vanished, Daniel has an idea...

Bethany later finds Max in the café and orders him to lay off Daniel, declaring that he is a lovely, kind person who has been wrongly accused. However, Max resolves to follow Daniel - just as he is heading off to meet former flame Nicky Wheatley.

In the precinct, Daniel meets up with Nicky, who is now a community outreach worker, and her friend Deana, in the hope that they may be able to gather some information about Lauren from the women Nicky supports.

Max watches on with excitement and takes some photos of the meeting on his phone. He later explains to Bobby that he recognises Nicky as a sex worker, announcing that Daniel is clearly hiding something.

Is Daniel about to be put under as much scrutiny as Roy?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
