Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent has spoken out about last night's Manchester terror attack, saying that she is 'heartbroken and devastated'.

A total of 22 people have been confirmed dead so far, including children, after an explosion happened at Ariana Grande's concert at Manchester Arena, which police are treating as a terrorist incident.

Reacting to the awful news on Instagram, Brooke – who plays Sophie Webster in the ITV soap – explained that she had rushed into the city centre to help a friend caught up in the attack.

Brooke shared her story earlier today (May 23) in a moving message about citizens coming together in the wake of the tragedy, alongside a poignant picture of Manchester's worker bee symbol.

She posted: "Heartbroken and Devastated. Having rushed into Manchester to help my friend home, the scenes around the arena last night were horrendous and something no child should have had to witness.

"My thoughts and love are with the people & families this attack has affected. The emergency services have been amazing and after such a horrendous attack, how we have come together as a city to help others in such a sad time... people opening their homes, giving out free transport, a safe place for people to wait for families. I pray for our city... Our beautiful city."

Emmerdale star Isobel Hodgins was among those caught up in the devastating attack last night, while celebrities including Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Harry Styles, and Demi Lovato have paid tribute to everybody affected by the horrific attack.
