Coronation Street's Sinead Tinker sees Chesney Brown in a whole new light tonight (October 18) as some devastating news reaches Weatherfield.

Fans can expect heartbreaking scenes as Izzy Armstrong hears from her absent dad Owen, who drops a bombshell while on the phone from Portugal.

While the sad twist was initially being kept under wraps by Corrie, it's since leaked out that Izzy's younger sister Katy – who was played by Georgia May Foote between 2010 and 2015 – is getting an off-screen death.

Tabloid reports have revealed that Katy's loved ones will learn that she's died in a car crash, changing their lives forever.

In tonight's Corrie double bill, hospital-bound Chesney puts his own health worries to one side as he's filled in on what's happened.

Chesney is determined to be with his son Joseph in Portugal and Sinead is deeply moved to see just how dedicated he is to the youngster.

Sinead's eye appeared to be wandering back to her ex-boyfriend Daniel Osbourne this week as they bonded at the Bistro, but will tonight's events make her realise that Chesney is the one for her?

Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead, recently explained: "When they receive the news from Portugal, Sinead is just in awe of Chesney and how determined he is. She takes a step back and sees Chesney in a completely new light.

"Sinead sees him as a man. He's got a fire in his belly and he is so courageous, because he is really poorly but he is passionate about something.

"Sinead can see that Chesney is really courageous, he takes responsibility and he has a good heart. It dawns on her, 'What have I been doing?'

"She thinks she should be with him because he loves her, she loves him, and if they stay together they are going to be together forever. It may be a safe option, but she still has that love for him because she's been with him a while."

Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
