Coronation Street airs Anna Windass's most emotional scenes ever tonight (December 6) as she receives the tragic news about her son Gary.

Gary's loved ones on the Street had their lives turned upside-down on Monday night as word reached them that he'd been killed on his latest risky trip to the Ukraine.

In tonight's Corrie double bill, Gary's girlfriend Sarah Platt faces the heartbreaking task of breaking the news to his mum Anna in jail.

Anna is brought into a private room so that Sarah and Tim Metcalfe can fill her in on what's happened to Gary.

Unsurprisingly, Anna is so distraught by the news that she completely breaks down and even has to be restrained by a prison guard as she loses control.

As well as being torn apart by her grief over Gary, an inconsolable Anna is also upset that her daughter Faye didn't come to see her when she needed support the most.

Still brainwashed by Pat Phelan (but not for much longer!), Faye has avoided her chance to see her mum. However, Anna refuses to accept her decision, even trying to push past the guards so that she can get out and see Faye.

With Anna's dramatic escape next week, maybe it won't be long before she gets that wish…

Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
