Coronation Street's iconic Rovers Return isn't just getting a new landlord.

The pub is apparently getting a rebranding with a new name too, as Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) makes plans to spruce up the place when he takes over.

According to The Sun, Johnny will change the name of the Rovers Return Inn to 'The Roverz' (nothing says hip more than a 'z'), and will look to install a new neon sign outside and introduce gastropub food to the menu, scrapping the hotpots.

The changes won't go down well with the Weatherfield residents, who try to convince Johnny to keep the Rovers Return as it is.

Digital Spy has reached out to Coronation Street reps for comment.

Last week, it was reported that Johnny will buy the Rovers Return for sentimental reasons, as it was the last place he saw his son Aidan (Shayne Ward) before his tragic death.

We also know that this summer will see Gemma Winter reunited with her former flame Henry Newton, and the two plan to buy the pub and turn it into a cocktail bar – although it looks like those plans don't go through.

Knowing that a large glass of red wine costs a bargain £3, we're surprised that the pub isn't more popular!

It certainly beats the £6.95 for a glass of prosecco at the Bistro...
