Corrie's Phelan faces family heartache over Nicola
Coronation Street villain Pat Phelan faces the police tonight – but not in the way that many fans will be hoping for.
Viewers have recently been reminded of just how twisted Phelan (Connor McIntyre) can be, with the big reveal that he's been holding Andy Carver captive in a basement since January.
While many fans will now be looking forward to seeing Phelan carted off in handcuffs and made to pay for his crimes at some point in the future, sadly that's not quite the reason he comes face-to-face with a policeman tonight.
Instead, it's because his daughter Nicola Rubinstein (Nicola Thorp) is dating a police officer called Scott and decides to introduce him to Phelan tonight.
Nicola has an ulterior motive for the sudden introduction, as she's just bought a derelict building with Scott and wants Phelan's expert advice on their chances of sprucing it up to open a youth centre. (Erm, Phelan's more an expert on using derelict buildings to hold his enemies hostage, but never mind!)
Phelan is only too happy to offer his expertise if it means getting closer to his daughter, but he's in for a nasty shock when it becomes clear that Scott has absolutely no idea he's Nicola's father.
Instead, Scott just thinks that Phelan is a random friend of Nicola's – which is perhaps a hint that she doesn't fully trust her long-lost dad yet.
Agreeing to help out the happy couple with their project anyway, will Phelan have to be careful to ensure that Nicola and Scott don't realise he's hiding a dark secret?
Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
