Coronation Street character Kayla Westbrook continued her revenge plot against Bethany Platt on Friday (July 6), as part of a secret mission to assist her evil father Neil Clifton – but her plan may have a huge potential flaw.

During the 8.30pm episode, Kayla (Mollie Winnard) secretly recorded her conversation with Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) using her phone, as she deviously tried to get him to open up and say something which may help her case.

"Craig, have you lied for Bethany before?" she asked. "When? You can be too loyal. It clouds your judgment."

Craig began to open up, replying: "I lied to DC Leigh about when Bethany was working at the lap-dancing club, even though she was underage.

"She was furious, but you can't turn a blind eye to someone committing an offence, even though she's my mate. Bethany got sacked, and then she blamed me.

"And then there was the business with Neil. When I was helping to gather evidence against him, I was torn..."

Craig was saved by the intercom buzzer as Bethany (Lucy Fallon) showed up – but even if Kayla got what she wanted, there is one problem she might not have accounted for. That is, her secret recordings may not actually be admissable in court and may not be submitted as evidence.

"Yes Kayla. Of course your recordings will be admissible in an appeal by hiding the recording and asking leading questions...," said one Twitter user, adding a thinking face emoji at the end.

Neil's appeal against his conviction will be unsuccessful, which leads to Kayla continuing her revenge plans.
