Coronation Street's Andy Carver makes a drastic bid for freedom next week after eight long months of being held captive by Pat Phelan.

The ITV soap aired a huge twist on Friday night (August 18) as it was revealed that Andy isn't dead after all.

Andy (Oliver Farnworth) appeared to have been brutally murdered when Phelan attacked him with a laptop in January. However, in a shock moment that Corrie kept under wraps, the latest episode revealed that Phelan has been keeping Andy prisoner in a cellar ever since.

With viewers now in on the secret, Corrie has released these dramatic new pictures showing Andy making an escape attempt next week.

On Monday night, Andy decides that it's time to fight for his freedom, so he lies in wait for Phelan (Connor McIntyre) with a rope.

As Phelan arrives in the basement to check on him, Andy pounces on his captor in the hope of overpowering him and getting out.

Will this be the moment Andy gets free and exposes Phelan's true colours to the entire Street? Or has he underestimated Phelan yet again?
