CORRECTION: Dump truck crash shuts down Route 1A for more than 2 hours

Jan. 27—A crash between a Toyota Tundra and a dump truck shut down Route 1A in Ellsworth on Thursday morning.

Lacy Mae Morrill, 23, of Franklin was northbound in her Toyota and crossed the centerline, and struck a 2005 Volvo dump truck that was driven by Thomas Hansen, 51, of Corinth, according to Glen Moshier, chief of the Ellsworth Police Department.

Hansen lost control of the dump truck, spun, crossed the roadway and then went down over an embankment.

Morrill continued northbound, and struck a second car, which was pushed off the roadway and into a ditch, Moshier said. Morril's car then blocked the roadway.

The second car that was struck was not badly damaged, and the driver was not injured.

Hansen suffered from minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Route 1 remained closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours while tow trucks attempted to move the dump truck from the crash site.

Morrill, who was not injured in the crash, was cited for driving under the influence of drugs, driving to endanger and leaving the scene of a crash, according to Moshier.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated the wrong roadway that the crash occurred on.
