Coroner IDs man shot by police at Georgia college

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — A coroner has released the identity of a 20-year-old man who was shot by campus police at Georgia's Columbus State University this weekend.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan on Monday identified the man as Zikarious Jaquan Flint. Bryan says Flint died Sunday after suffering two gunshot wounds.

Authorities have said Flint wasn't a student at the university and no one else was hurt in the shooting. Police say they chased Flint on foot near apartments on the campus, about 100 miles southwest of Atlanta near the Alabama state line.

Police say officers shot Flint when he turned and faced the officers during the chase. The officers had responded to a report of someone seen loading a gun.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting.
