UPDATE: Coroner IDs man fatally struck by multiple cars in rural Danville

The man who was fatally struck by multiple vehicles early Tuesday morning has now been identified as Duane A. Beachy, 38, formerly of Humbolt, Illinois, Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden said Friday.

The Vermilion County Sheiff's Office and the Vermilion County Coroner's office continue to investigate this case.

DANVILLE — The Vermillion County Sheriff's Department is seeking help from the public to identify a man who was fatally struck by multiple cars on a rural Danville road early Tuesday morning.

Vermillion County deputies responded to a call of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle on 2030 East Road north of East Voorhees street in rural Danville around 4:40 a.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a White man, who has not been identified, was walking in the roadway wearing dark colored clothing, Chief Investigator Michael Hartshorn said in a news release.

The road is in a rural area without street lights and there was fog present.

The man was struck by multiple vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles stopped and reported the incident to law enforcement.

A second vehicle that struck the pedestrian was located around 9 a.m.

The sheriff's department is asking that anyone who may have information about the incident or the identity of the pedestrian to call the investigations division at 217-442-4080.

Citizens can also submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
