Coronation Street looks set to bring back villain Nathan Curtis.

According to The Sun, former cast member Christopher Harper will be reprising his role as abuser Nathan for a storyline with Bethany Platt — whom he once groomed as part of a sex trafficking scheme.

Digital Spy has reached out to Coronation Street for comment on this returning character.

Nathan's sudden reappearance is quite interesting timing considering that another young girl, Lauren Bolton, is missing and presumed dead.

Viewers know that Lauren had been speaking on the phone to an older man — supposedly her boyfriend — before she disappeared from Weatherfield several weeks ago.

Nathan was supposed to be in prison for his crimes against Bethany, but she will discover next month that he has been released.

As of now, the police have pinned Lauren's supposed murder on Roy Cropper after a string of evidence falseley linked him to the crime. In upcoming scenes, Roy faces mounting legal challenges in court when the CPS barrister brings up his assault on Gary Windass and historic abduction of foster child Wayne Hayes.

In his past storyline, Nathan used drugs and alcohol as a way to make a teenage Bethany believe he loved her, then pressured her into having sex with his friends.

Nathan and his cohorts were eventually arrested before they could follow through on a plan to sell Bethany into an international sex trafficking ring. They were all later convicted for various sexual offences.
