Corning: $250M upstate NY emission plant expansion

Corning Inc. says it plans $250 million expansion of emission controls plant in upstate NY

CORNING, N.Y. (AP) -- Corning Inc. says it plans a $250 million expansion of its diesel plant in an upstate New York town, adding 250 jobs to the 500 already at the facility.

The company says the plant in the Steuben County town of Erwin makes emission control products used in heavy-duty diesel engine trucks and agricultural equipment. It says the plant has already been expanded twice to meet global demand since it started making the products in 2004.

The 94,000 square-foot project announced Thursday is expected to be completed by 2015.
