Cornel West Leaves Princeton to Teach in New York City
Cornel West is leaving Princeton in New Jersey and heading back to New York to teach at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, The New York Times reported, noting that it's the place "where he began as an assistant professor in 1977." In an interview with the paper he said, "I don't have that much time, and I want to be able to do precisely what I'm called to do." The Times also clarifies that West's departure from Princeton was on "good terms," and that he'll still hold the title of emeritus professor.

As his former school's newspaper, The Daily Princetonian, writes, West had been on sabbatical this semester, but before that he'd been teaching "Introduction to African American Studies, a freshman seminar, as well as numerous seminars in religion." This semester, he's also been splashed across headlines for being arrested both in New York and D.C. while protesting the NYPD's "Stop and Frisk" policy and denouncing corporate greed in the nation's capital.
