Corbin Tourism Commission hires new Tourism Director

May 24—CORBIN — The Corbin Tourism Commission has announced the hiring of a new Tourism Director.

The commission selected Nancy Conley as the new Tourism Director in a special-called meeting on Wednesday.

Conley has 15 years experience in tourism, previously working as the Tourism Operations Manager for the City of Berea Business and Tourism Development Department.

She holds a degree in Technology and Industrial Arts with a concentration in Business Management from Berea College. She also has a Tourism/Travel Marketing Professional Festival and Event Planner Certification from Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College.

Conley was selected from a pool of six interviewees. Tourism Commission Chairman Jeannie Hensley cited Conley's experience with tourism, grant writing, and ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding as the primary reasons for her selection over other candidates.

Hensley said, "She has a tremendous love for tourism...She will bring a lot of new, great ideas to Corbin and we are so excited to have her here."

Conley will be moving to Corbin from Berea; and her first day as Tourism Director will be on June 10.
