Every gallon of fuel we burn through an Internal Combustion Engine creates 20+ Lbs of CO2. And coal is even worse. Currently, we are producing more than twice the amount of CO2 than the planet can absorb. And that CO2 stays in the atmosphere for 150 years. We had better start reducing the amount of CO2 that we produce, if we want a planet that our children and grandchildren can live on.
I wonder how much extra carbon a lot of the proposed efforts would create?
Corals thrive in warm waters. During the cretaceous period the seas were much warmer than now and coral reefs were very abundant. Chemical fertilizers and agricultural runoff is to blame not climate change. Any excuse to increase the tax burden.
Over the years our record of "intervention" with the hope of "fixing" natural occurrences has been pretty dismal. How about we just leave that to nature as it seems to have done fine for thousands of years healing itself
Over the past 70 years the world’s population has at least tripled… and it’s not slowing down either. Global warming isn’t the problem, it’s too many people competing for and consuming our finite resources while leaving the refuse behind. It’s nothing new either... we studied this in grad school over 20 years ago, but once again nobody listened… or even cared to deal with it. World leaders completely ignore human population levels as being a problem, but as global populations continue to rise beyond sustainable levels, so will the impacts humans are causing to the planet... all of them. Funny how the mitigating factor of human overpopulation is never discussed even though it’s the main one causing all the problems!!!
The "Coral Scientists" should look up the Carbon Cycle. Apparently understanding of that concept wasn't required for a degree in "Coral Science".
"....drastic cut(s) in global carbon dioxide emissions won’t be enough to protect corals from deadly bleaching events and other environmental threats." Well, that's because CO2 isn't driving the climate changes.
it's so sad that the climate is changing, and will eventually affect ALL life forms
There are corals that are adapted to warmer water. Better replace corals that are sensitive to warmer temperature.
And Natures has its own fires to clear up the debris for the renewal and rebirth...
Al Gore's not involved in this, is he?
HOPE FOR CHANGE
AGW is junk science. Earth climate has been warming since the end of the last ice age; irrespective of man. Mankind has less than 200 years of incomplete temperature measurements on a planet of 4,500,000,000 years of age - statistically insignificant. All other temperature claims are not directly measured but inaccurate "proxies"; basically made-up assumptions and contrary to scientific method. Political opinion polls of consensus isn't science. The media promotion of this manipulated and politically driven junk science is simple FRAUD.
