The Coolest BMW 7 Series Ever Made Is for Sale, and It Has a Manual

From Road & Track

Well, here's something special. A second-generation BMW 7-Series just popped up on Craigslist in Seattle. But it's not just any 7er. It's the coolest 7-Series ever made: an Alpina B11. A manual one.

The E32-generation BMW 7-Series was BMW's first shot at a modern, big, luxurious, driving machine. It was perfect for going from place to place in great comfort, and looked good doing it.

Alpina, the German tuning company that puts out all sorts of obscure performance-oriented BMWs, got its hands on the E32 back in 1988 when it was new, and turned it into something great.

Called the B11 3.5, it was Alpina's view of what the 7 Series should be. Distinctive decals, iconic wheels, and a weird interior all add up to the B11s uniqueness. Its straight-six engine was upped to 254 horsepower from around 200 horses, and even came with a manual transmission(!).

Back in the day, just 332 examples rolled out of Alpina's workshop, making this big 7 truly special. The seller claims the car was just imported from Japan, but even after spending its entire life overseas and weeks on a boat, it still looks the business. With a little TLC, you can have the classic Alpina of your dreams.

And for a current asking price of $9950, you should have no excuses. Make the call.

Update: An earlier version of this post called the E32 the first generation 7-Series, when it is in fact the second generation.
