A cooler flow this week with a lot of dry time in central Indiana

We’re in for a great day this Memorial Day. We started off the morning with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms. These have since cleared. Some patchy drizzle may linger in parts of the area through the early morning hours. However, the trend will be for clouds decreasing and plenty of sunshine this afternoon. Temperatures will only rise to the mid 70s. This is below average, by a few degrees, for this time of year. The average is 77° for this date in Indianapolis. Even so, it will be very comfortable but on the breezy side. Winds will be gusting near 20-25 mph.

The Indianapolis Indians and the Pacers have home games tonight. If you’re heading downtown this evening, we remain rain-free and comfortable. If you’re going to Victory Field, there will be fireworks after the game in celebration of Memorial Day.

A few isolated showers and storms are possible again late this evening and are most likely to be in our far north-northwestern counties. These would exit before daybreak Tuesday and we’re in for another great day. However, the next couple of afternoons/evenings will bring the chance for some additional isolated showers and storms. We keep a cooler flow around this week with daily highs in the 70s and overnight lows that will start in the 40s by the end of the week. We turn more unsettled over the weekend with the return of warmer air plus more showers and storms.
