What’s Cool At School? – One elementary campus REALLY got into Nevada Reading Week

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – We sure hope you’ve noticed shout-outs from all of us to elementary schools around the valley during Nevada Reading Week.

While almost every campus participated, one school got *way* into it!

From giant jellyfish hanging from the ceiling to reading tents in a fantasy mushroom town, you might not recognize what’s really the library at Robert and Sandy Ellis Elementary in Henderson.

That’s because librarian Nicole Cortney and her aide Jade Wibiral organized a small army of parent volunteers and high schoolers to make reading week a memorable experience for all.

Costumed teachers made a video in which one of them shouted:

“Gnomes forever!”

What’s wrong with being a little theatrical? Especially when “once upon a time” includes the teachers and staff reading with their “gnomies” [a play on words – with “homies”]

Also, a shout-out to the Ellis music teacher Tyler Wick for reaching out to share this great story.

And thanks to every single elementary school that hosted reading week fun on their campuses – especailly the librarians that made those events happen.
