What’s Cool At School? – Checking in on the West Tech “We The People” team after their trip to Washington, D.C.

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) – You may remember a story from a couple of months ago about a group of students from the West Career Tech Academy getting ready to go to Washington DC for the National “We The People” competition. We have an update.

In a video called the Parade Of Teams, the local kids announced themselves:

“We are West Career and Technical Academy from Las Vegas, Nevada.”

Their teacher, Ryan Handlon:

“They are our future generations. So, the better they’re prepared, the better we’re all gonna be.”

Even though the team didn’t make it into the top ten last month, Handlon couldn’t be more proud of the kids.

As for the students themselves? Here’s Reagan:

“Being a part of Nationals allowed us to go further in depth in our U.S. Constitution and our U.S. history class.

And Jolene:

”D.C. was an incredible experience where we were able to see first-hand the Nation’s Capital and the historical monuments that we learned so much about.”

So, the trip was a win for the West Tech “We The People” team.

And if schools across the country keep turning out similar students, it’s a win for all of us – for “We, the people.”
