Cool Car: 2024 Honda Ridgeline Trailsport

(WHTM)– Several car makers have debuted small uni-body pickups over the last few years, but Honda is the original with the first Ridgeline way back in 2006.

The 2024 version is civilized and comfortable. This Trailsport model looks like an off-roader with all-terrain tires and a rugged grill but it’s mostly just an appearance package.

All-wheel-drive is standard.

Of course, the Ridgeline has a bed and tailgate like any pickup. But it also has a built-in trunk at the bottom of the bed for groceries and other items that need protection from the weather.

The interior is updated and still very similar to Honda’s big SUV the Pilot.

Full electronic driver aids are standard, the layout is easy to use including the wide touch screen. A charging pad for phones is new, just in front of the push-button controls for the nine-speed automatic.

Row two has lots of room for people and folding the seat bottoms for extra cargo is easy.

Power comes from Honda’s tried and true 3.5 liter V6 with 280 horsepower.

While driving is pleasant, I’d choose a trim with less aggressive tires because they are noisy.

So for the 2024 Honda Ridgeline Trailsport, all-wheel-drive, I say thumbs up to the utility, innovative features, and roomy interior. Thumbs down to noisy tires.

I averaged about 22 miles per gallon in the Ridgeline. The as-reviewed sticker, $46,375.
